-Former Fission Uranium CEO McElroy Joins Apollo Silver Following $1.14B Deal
Apollo Silver Corp. (APGO.V) has named expert geologist Ross McElroy president and chief executive officer, effective immediately, the company said.
He succeeds Andrew Bowering, who will remain chair of the board.
McElroy co-founded Fission Uranium and led it until the Canadian explorer’s C$1.56 billion ($1.14 billion) sale to Paladin Energy earlier this year.
He brings 38 years of exploration and mine-development experience across major, mid-tier and junior miners, with credited discoveries in uranium and gold. Industry groups have recognised his work with awards including The Northern Miner’s “Mining Person of the Year” (2013) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Caanada’s Bill Dennis Award (2014).
Apollo granted McElroy 2.5 million stock options exercisable at C$0.315 per share, vesting over two years and expiring in 2030.
The Toronto-listed company is advancing the Calico silver project in California’s Mojave Desert and the Cinco de Mayo project in Mexico’s Chihuahua state.
