About
The Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) is a national development finance institution (DFI) established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament as a joint venture between the Government of Zambia, public sector financial institutions, the local private sector and foreign bilateral and multilateral institutions. Headquartered at Development House on Katondo Road in Lusaka, DBZ provides innovative short, medium and long-term financing, equity investments, technical assistance and advisory services to productive sectors of the Zambian economy — including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, transport, renewable energy, infrastructure and mining. DBZ plays a critical role in financing Zambia's mining sector development, offering project finance and structured lending to emerging and junior mining operators, as well as financing for mining supply chain businesses and value-addition enterprises. As a DFI, DBZ is empowered to borrow funds, issue securities, study and promote investment opportunities and assist in placing foreign investment into Zambia. DBZ is an accredited entity of the Green Climate Fund.
