About
Bank Windhoek Limited is Namibia's only fully indigenous commercial bank and the flagship brand of the Capricorn Group, a financial services holding company listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange. Founded in 1982, Bank Windhoek has a proud Namibian heritage and operates the country's largest branch and ATM network, with over 55 branches and specialist finance offices nationwide. As Namibia's only systemically important bank that is not foreign-owned, Bank Windhoek plays a unique role in the Namibian economy — financing local businesses, mining projects, infrastructure and communities while reinvesting profits domestically. Bank Windhoek is part of Capricorn Investment Holdings, a regional financial services group with interests in banking, insurance, asset management and microfinance. The bank's Corporate and Institutional Banking division is a key provider of project finance, structured lending and trade finance to Namibia's mining sector, including facilities to mining companies such as Andrada Mining (Uis Tin Mine). Bank Windhoek employs approximately 1,800 people and is headquartered at 119 Independence Avenue in Windhoek.
