DRC Undergoes Fresh Review of Extractive-Sector Transparency

The Democratic Republic of Congo is undergoing a new international assessment of transparency in its extractive industries, bringing disclosures on mining revenues, company ownership and state participation under review.

The assessment comes four years after the country scored 85.5 out of 100 in its previous evaluation. The current review is being conducted against the 2023 Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Standard.

Mines Minister Louis Watum Kabamba attended the 142nd meeting of the EITI-DRC Executive Committee in Kinshasa on 22 October 2026, where the assessment was discussed. Planning Minister Guylain Nyembo chaired the session.

The disclosures being examined address questions that arise during mining investment and commodity transactions: who controls an asset, what interest the state holds and how company payments to the government are reported. Investors and buyers can use those records when checking ownership and examining a project’s relationship with the state.

Alongside the international assessment, the committee reviewed progress on the country’s mining and forestry transparency reports, which document how revenues from those sectors are reported and accounted for.
