About
The Zambia Chamber of Mines is the principal representative body of the mining industry in Zambia, representing the country's major mining companies before government, regulators and international organisations. Headquartered in Lusaka, the Chamber represents the interests of its members — including First Quantum Minerals, Barrick Lumwana, Mopani Copper Mines, KCM, ZCCM-IH and many junior and service companies — and advocates for a stable, competitive and investor-friendly mining policy environment. The Chamber's mandate includes engagement on fiscal, regulatory and environmental policy; health and safety standards; skills development and local content; and promotion of Zambia as a mining investment destination. Zambia is the world's sixth largest copper producer and Africa's second largest, and the Chamber plays a central role in coordinating industry engagement with the Government of Zambia on policy issues affecting the sector. The Chamber is a member of the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA) and a regular participant at Mining Indaba.
