About
The State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) is a Tanzanian government-owned parastatal established in 1972, mandated to promote and develop mineral resources on behalf of the Government of Tanzania. STAMICO holds government equity stakes in major mining joint ventures including a 45% interest in TRX Gold's Buckreef Gold Mine through Buckreef Gold Company Limited and a 16% partnership with Lifezone Metals in the Kabanga Nickel Project through Tembo Nickel Corporation Limited. STAMICO also operates STAMIGOLD Company Limited, which manages the Biharamulo (Tulawaka) Gold Mine in Kagera Region and provides artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) support services across Tanzania. Additionally, STAMICO offers contract drilling services to the private sector through its Mining Services Division and manages a portfolio of strategic mineral assets. STAMICO works in close coordination with the Tanzania Mining Commission and the Ministry of Minerals to ensure the government participates equitably in the economic benefits of Tanzania's large-scale mining operations. STAMICO is headquartered in Dodoma (head office) and Dar es Salaam (operations office).
