About
La Société pour le Développement Minier de la Côte d'Ivoire (SODEMI) is the state-owned mining development company of Côte d'Ivoire, established on 22 March 1962 under Law No. 62-82. SODEMI is the technical arm of the Ivorian State in the mining sector, under the supervision of the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy. The company's primary mandate is geological and mineral research and exploration across the Ivorian national territory — it has built a comprehensive geo-database of Côte d'Ivoire's mineral resources over more than 60 years of operation. SODEMI holds minority equity stakes in major mining JVs: it holds a stake in the Société Minière d'Ity (SMI) — the operator of the Ity Gold Mine (with Endeavour Mining holding 85%); participates in the Compagnie Minière du Littoral (CML) with China Geological and Mining Corporation (CGM) for bauxite production; and co-develops iron ore projects with Tata Steel Ivory Coast and others. SODEMI also provides mining services including mineral analysis, geophysical studies, geological surveys and ore treatment to both public and private sector clients. Director General is M. Koné Moussa Seydou. SODEMI is headquartered at 31 Boulevard des Martyrs, Abidjan.
