About
Seriti Resources Holdings is a 91% black-owned and black-controlled South African mining champion and Eskom's largest black-controlled coal supplier, headquartered at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. Founded in 2017 to acquire the New Vaal, New Denmark and Kriel collieries from Anglo American, Seriti has grown through the 2021 acquisition of South Africa Energy Coal (SAEC) from South32 to become one of South Africa's largest thermal coal producers with five major collieries in Mpumalanga and the Free State supplying Eskom's power stations. In 2022, Seriti acquired a majority stake in Windlab Africa's renewable energy assets — 3.5 GW of wind and solar projects — through its subsidiary Seriti Green, positioning the group as a diversified energy transition business. Seriti is co-owned by four black anchor shareholders: Masimong Group, Thebe Investments, Zungu Investments (Zico) and Community Investment Holdings (CIH). The group employs approximately 10,000 people and has 10% of its equity ring-fenced for employee and community trusts.
