Sandfire Resources Limited (ASX: SFR) is an Australian copper-focused mining company and one of the largest copper producers on the ASX, operating the Motheo Copper Operations in Botswana's Ghanzi District — one of two major operating divisions alongside MATSA in Spain. Motheo, which officially opened in August 2023, comprises the T3 and A4 open pit mines and a central 3.2–5.2 million tonne per annum processing facility producing high-quality copper concentrate (with a silver by-product) from the Kalahari Copper Belt. Motheo's copper concentrate is transported by truck to Walvis Bay, Namibia for export to global smelters. Sandfire holds a large-scale exploration landholding of 13,052 km² across the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana and Namibia, positioning it for future production growth through satellite deposits. Over 95% of Motheo's direct employees are Batswana, and over 78% of managers are Botswana nationals. Sandfire is headquartered in West Perth, Australia and is listed on the ASX under the ticker SFR.
