Newmont Ghana Gold Limited is the Ghanaian subsidiary of Newmont Corporation — the world's largest gold producer — and the single largest gold mining operation in Ghana. Newmont operates two major mines in the country: the Ahafo Mine in the Brong-Ahafo Region (comprising Ahafo South and the recently commissioned Ahafo North project) and the Akyem Mine in the Eastern Region. Together these operations produce approximately 900,000 ounces of gold annually, making Newmont the dominant gold producer in Africa's largest gold-producing nation. The Ahafo North project achieved commercial production in October 2025 following a first gold pour in September 2025, adding significant new production to the portfolio. Newmont is the only gold producer listed in the S&P 500 and is widely recognised for its ESG practices, community investment and responsible mining. In Ghana, the company employs thousands of Ghanaians directly and thousands more through its local procurement and contractor programmes, having contributed billions of dollars to Ghana's economy through taxes, royalties and community investment since entering the country in 1994.
