MMG Limited Kinsevere is a major copper cathode producer located approximately 30 kilometres from Lubumbashi in the Haut-Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Acquired by MMG Limited — a subsidiary of China Minmetals Corporation — in 2012, the Kinsevere operation has been in production since 2007 and currently produces between 65,000 and 75,000 tonnes of copper cathode per annum through open-pit mining, conventional milling and solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) processing. The operation holds a leasehold agreement with Gécamines and employs over 800 full-time Congolese workers, with Congolese nationals comprising the majority of the senior management team. MMG Kinsevere is one of the most significant foreign-invested copper operations in the DRC outside the Glencore and CMOC portfolios, and is currently advancing an expansion project aimed at extending the mine life by at least 13 years. In April 2025, Kinsevere was awarded the Copper Mark certification against the Risk Readiness Assessment 3.0 standard — one of the first mines in Africa to achieve this recognition.
