About
Managem Group (Casablanca Stock Exchange: MNG) is a leading Moroccan and pan-African mining company established in 1930, with origins tracing to the discovery of cobalt deposits at Bou-Azzer in 1928 — the world's only primary cobalt mine still in operation today. Managem was formally constituted in 1996 to consolidate the mining activities of ONA, now Al Mada, which currently holds 81.4% of the Group. Managem operates 13 mines in 9 African countries and holds numerous exploration permits. In Morocco, the company mines gold, silver, cobalt, copper, zinc, lead, and fluorite at multiple sites including Bou-Azzer (cobalt), Imiter (silver, one of Morocco's largest silver mines), Guemassa (zinc/lead/silver/copper complex near Marrakech), and Tizert (copper). Across Africa, Managem holds assets in Gabon (gold), DRC (copper/cobalt in JV with Wanbao Mining), Sudan, Guinea, Ethiopia, and other countries. Managem produced significant volumes of cobalt cathode, silver, copper concentrate, and gold in recent years, generating revenues of approximately MAD 5–7 billion annually. The Group is committed to responsible and ethical mineral sourcing and participates in international sustainability frameworks. Managem's cobalt operations are of particular strategic significance given global demand from electric vehicle battery manufacturers. Headquarters are in Casablanca, with the historic Bou-Azzer cobalt site in the Draa-Tafilalet Region of south-central Morocco.
