About
Hwange Colliery Company Limited Holdings (HCCL Holdings) is Zimbabwe's anchor coal producer and a diversified industrial group listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE: HCCL), operating across energy, mining, agriculture, real estate and healthcare. With over 120 years of mining heritage dating back to 1899, Hwange Colliery operates one of Africa's largest coking and thermal coal deposits at Hwange in Matabeleland North — estimated to contain over 26 billion tonnes of coal reserves. The company supplies thermal coal to Zimbabwe's Hwange Thermal Power Station — the country's largest electricity generator — and produces metallurgical coal for export and domestic steelmakers. HCCL Holdings is transforming into a US$1 billion integrated coal-led industrial enterprise, with plans encompassing a new coking coal and coke plant, a pig iron and steel facility, a coal-to-liquids project and the 40MW Hwange Biomass Power Station. The company employs over 3,000 people and is pivotal to Zimbabwe's energy security and industrial development. Its head office is in Hwange with a corporate office in Harare's Coal House building.
