About
Ghana Manganese Company Limited (GMC) is one of the world's largest producers of high-grade manganese ore, operating the Nsuta Mine in the Western Region of Ghana — one of Ghana's oldest active mine sites and a cornerstone of the country's non-gold mineral exports. GMC is a subsidiary of Consolidated Minerals Limited (Consmin), which is owned by Ucrainе-linked investors. The Nsuta mine holds a mining concession covering approximately 175 square kilometres, less than 3% of which has been mined to date, giving it one of the most significant undeveloped manganese reserves of any operating mine globally. GMC ore is distinguished by one of the highest manganese-to-iron ratios in the global market (Mn:Fe approximately 31), very low phosphorous, low alumina and minimal heavy metal impurities — making it highly valued by global steel and battery manufacturers. The mine has been operating for over five decades and ships approximately 1.5–2 million wet metric tonnes of ore annually from the Takoradi deep-sea port. GMC is a member of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and operates in compliance with Ghana's local content and environmental regulations.
