About
Exxaro Resources Limited is one of South Africa's largest black-empowered diversified mining groups, listed on the JSE (EXX) and headquartered at The Connexxion in Centurion, Gauteng. Founded in 2006 through the merger of Eyesizwe Coal and elements of Kumba Resources, Exxaro is a top-five coal producer in South Africa and a key supplier to Eskom through its tied Matla colliery, as well as an export producer through the Richards Bay Coal Terminal. Exxaro operates five major collieries — Grootegeluk, Belfast, Leeuwpan, Matla and Mafube — and holds equity stakes in Kumba Iron Ore and the Black Mountain zinc mine. In line with its strategic pivot towards energy transition minerals, Exxaro acquired the Ntsimbintle manganese assets in 2025. Through its subsidiary Cennergi, Exxaro operates 229 MW of wind energy across two Eastern Cape wind farms and has a solar project under development. Exxaro employs approximately 7,000 people directly and is committed to transformation, community development and responsible mining across its operations.
