About
La Chambre des Mines du Mali is the industry association representing mining companies operating in the Republic of Mali — one of Africa's top three gold producers. Mali's gold production averages approximately 60–70 tonnes per year, with the sector contributing more than 70% of export revenues. The Chamber represents major producers including B2Gold (Fekola), Barrick Gold (Loulo-Gounkoto, the country's largest mine), Allied Gold (Sadiola, Komana), Hummingbird Resources (Yanfolila), Robex Resources (Nampala), and Ganfeng Lithium's Goulamina Lithium project (spodumene, first production 2024 — Africa's largest hard-rock lithium mine). The Chamber liaises with the Ministry of Mines and the Direction Nationale de la Géologie et des Mines (DNGM) on mining code matters, fiscal regime, community development obligations, and artisanal mining regulation. Mali has experienced significant political instability since the 2020 and 2021 military coups. The junta's 2023 Mining Code revisions increased the state's free-carried interest and royalty rates, forcing renegotiations across the sector.
