About
Sociedade Mineira de Catoca is Angola's largest diamond mining company and one of the world's top diamond producers, accounting for over 75% of Angola's total diamond output. Located in the Lunda Sul Province near Saurimo, the Catoca kimberlite pipe covers 64 hectares and holds estimated reserves of 130 million carats. The operation commenced production in 1997 and processes up to 10 million tonnes of ore per annum. Currently owned by Endiama EP (59%) and Taadeen Holdings — a subsidiary of Oman's sovereign wealth fund (41%) following Alrosa's divestment in May 2025. Beyond the Catoca kimberlite, the company holds majority stakes in concessions including Luemba, Gango, Quitúbia and Luaxe, and is the primary shareholder in the Luele mine — the largest diamond project in Angola with 628 million carats in estimated reserves.
