About
The Câmara da Indústria Mineira de Angola (CIMA) is Angola's mining industry association, representing companies involved in mineral exploration, development, and production in the country. Angola's mining sector has been historically dominated by diamond production — the country is Africa's third-largest diamond producer — with Endiama (state diamond company), Alrosa-Angola JV, and Lucapa Diamond Company as key operators. Angola is actively seeking to diversify its mining sector beyond oil and diamonds, with the government promoting exploration for gold, iron ore, phosphates, manganese, copper, and rare earth elements under its Angola 2050 development programme. CIMA serves as the interface between mining industry participants and the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas (MIREMPET), as well as the National Geological Institute (IGEO). The organisation supports its members on licensing, regulatory compliance, and investment facilitation. Angola joined EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) in 2016. Luanda is the country's commercial hub for mining activity.
