About
The Botswana Chamber of Mines (BCM) is a private sector voluntary organisation established to serve and represent the interests of mining and exploration companies operating in Botswana, along with associated industries and service providers. Headquartered at Plot 165 Pilane Road (Capricorn House) in Gaborone, BCM advocates for a stable, investor-friendly regulatory environment, engages the government on policy, mining legislation, taxation and environmental matters, and promotes responsible and sustainable mining practices across the country. BCM's members include Debswana Diamond Company, Lucara Diamond, Khoemacau Copper Mining, Sandfire Resources (Motheo), Morupule Coal Mine, Minergy Coal, Rio Tinto and many other mining companies and associated service providers. Botswana's mining sector contributes approximately 16% of GDP, accounts for over 70% of export earnings, and is the dominant driver of national economic development. BCM's President is Monty Mphathi and its Secretary is Fred Jansen. The BCM is a member of the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA).
