African Rainbow Minerals Limited (ARM) is one of South Africa's largest and most diversified mining groups, founded by Dr Patrice Motsepe and publicly listed on the JSE (ARI). ARM mines and beneficiates iron ore, manganese ore and alloys, chrome ore and alloys, platinum group metals, copper, nickel and coal, and holds a strategic 12% investment in Harmony Gold Mining Company. The group's operations span the Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal provinces of South Africa, with a manganese alloy operation in Sarawak, Malaysia. Key assets include the Modikwa and Two Rivers platinum mines, Assmang's iron ore and manganese divisions, the Goedgevonden coal mine, and a copper project in Zambia. ARM was founded as ARMGold by Patrice Motsepe in 1997 and became the first black-controlled company listed on the JSE. ARM is a founding member of South Africa's Mining Charter and a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals.
